Why Chicagoans Go Out Of Their Way To Play The Waiting Game

People in Chicago wait in many lines for many reasons. They wait for food, alcohol, and new electronics. The article quotes some professors who have some ideas about why we wait. We are likely to wait for new products if we don't know about their quality, but not for food in restaurants that we know well.

I think that some things are worth waiting in lines for, but not for new expensive products that we do not know. The iPhone is a good example. Many thousands of people waited very long for the first products, even though there were too many problems with them. I would rather wait in line to buy tickets for a good show.
