A Navy aircraft carrier was diverted from a training mission in the Pacific on Tuesday to deliver supplies to an American luxury liner left stranded off the Mexico coast by an engine room fire. The nuclear-powered USS Ronald Reagan anchored at sea near the disabled Carnival Splendor ship about 50 miles west of Punta San Jacinto, Mexico, and 150 miles south of San Diego, as helicopters from the carrier began ferrying food, water and other provision to the marooned vessel, the Navy said. A 952-foot luxury liner with nearly 3,300 passengers and a crew of almost 1,200 aboard was left dead in the water by a fire that erupted in its engine room Monday. No injuries were reported. The blaze, which took about three hours to put out, crippled the Carnival Splendor’s propulsion system and force Carnival to cancel the rest of the voyage. Tug boats were dispatched from Ensenada, Mexico, to tow the crippled vessel back to shore, Hicks said.

In my opinion, that’s their fault. They didn’t check the engine and equipment. They have to tack care of the passengers and the problem. They are doing good because their apologizing and fixing the problem.

Power Play

Chinese President Hu jintao has topped the list of Forbers magazine's list of the world's powerful people, besting President Obama, who slipped to the second spot.
The magazine said it used four criteria to define power-whether the person has influence over a lot of people; whether he or she is powerful in more than one sphere and whether he or she actively wields power.
Julian Assange, the editor of Wikileaks, makes the list (No. 68) as does Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg (No. 40) Several accused criminals do too, including al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden (No. 57).

In my opinion, I agree with the magazine about Obama, facebook founder and Osama because this 3 persons are so famous around the world. The last 2 have accused criminals but the people don't care and still

Michelle Obama spent Sunday morning at a local school, where students were celebrating Diwali. Young kids performed dances in colorful saris to mark the festival of lights. The president bobbed his head to the music as well. Young girls danced with baskets on their heads. The young girls pulled Michelle on stage and started dancing.

In my opinion I think it was good for Michelle Obama to interact with the children from India and have fun dancing with them.

The CTA  received a $2.2 million federal grant Thursday to buy two all-electric buses. The battery-powered buses-the first buses with all-electric propulsion systems in the CTA fleet. The CTA currently operates 228 dised-electric hybirdbeses and 1,553desel buses. Meanwhile, Metra was awarded about$341,000to install automatic shutdown and strat-up systems in about 27 locomotives.

In my opinion, that was sound great. Beacuse using electric buses can safe and protect environment. We should protect the earth, human don't have another place to live.

Esperanza Medina bowed her head and wept in court Monday morning as a Cook Country judge sentenced a Cicero woman to 44 year in prison for organizing an acid attack against here her in 2008. The assault with sulfuric acid burned a quarter of Medina’s body and left the 50-year-old former social worker with red and white scare covering her face, neck, chest and arms. "This crime was something that was cold and calculated," Judge Nicholas Ford said before handing down the sentence. "What {Garcia} did is terrible and deserves to be punished severely." "I never thought my life would change so much in just second," wrote Medina, who had to move back into her 75-year-old mother’s house following the attack. "I had so many dreams still to achieve, but they were broken down."

In my opinion, the judge was fair. He gave her 44 years in jail. This is right because Garcia threw acid at Esperanza Medina. This action was similar to an assault what Garcia did was similar to murder.

"'For Colored Girls' Already Causing A Stir"

Tyler Perry has directed a famous play by Ntozake Shange which many artists feel is a very important African-American play. Critics are being divided on the new film, even before they have seen it. Some say that the writing of the play will make the film worth watching, but some believe that Tyler Perry's past films are so bad that he will ruin the play. One of the actresses in the film defends Perry and says that he did a very good job.

I have not seen a film by Tyler Perry, but I have heard both good and bad things about him. I believe that anyone has the right to create his own version of another art, and people have the right to see it or not to see it.
