CTA official said sunday they were continuing to investigate a bus crash Saturday evening that sent 37 people to area hospitals. The accident happened about 6 p.m. when the bus ran off Lake Shore Drive just south of Interstate 55 and struck a tree, official said. The CTA has placed fourth, fifth or sixth in federal collision-rate rankings since 2002 compared with other large bus transit agencies. Last year, there were 271 "reportable collision" involving CTA buses, according to records. But those are only the accidents resulting in $25,000 or more in property damage or at least on individual taken to a hospital, which is the criteria set by the Federal Transit Administration.
In my opinion, the bus driver has to be careful when she/he is driving. He/She is responsible for the passengers' lives. Since I can't trust bus drivers I prefer to ride a train.
